D132 Added lighting to Cruz Ramirez

Part of making a joint article with Flash McQueen, finally, it was not so simple to install these lights! So here is a dedicated article.

The beginning of the process is identical to that of Flash Mc Queen, we remove the screws to reveal the chip.

I hadn’t digitized Cruz yet, so I took the opportunity to change his chip. Nothing complicated, I unplug the 2 connectors, and I plug it back into the new chip. We can’t make a mistake, the cable colors guide us.

Then I connect the three headlight connectors to the chip. Easy if you have read our article with Flash.

However, where it gets tricky!!! is to slide the headlight plates into their supports. You have to force them a bit to get them to go all the way to the bottom (downwards).
If normally the cables are in the low position to have the diode facing up, here, impossible! So I reversed the plates. No need to damage the elements. We will see what happens next on the lighting side.

At the back it’s a real pain, everything is hard to get through, you have to file down the support and bodywork a bit. That’s the real black spot. Carrera didn’t plan it well. Usually everything is easy but not on this vehicle!

Here is the whole thing reassembled after a few adjustments. It’s time to go on the track.
At the front, having been forced to put the headlights in the other direction, the lighting is too low compared to the headlights and shines under the car. It’s a shame.

At the rear the effect is much better than at the front.

Summary

Big disappointment Cruz’s lighting, a little hassle to set them up at best and a result that is not up to our expectations. While giving lighting to Flash Queen was child’s play, here Carrera misses.
