Night Racing Comes to Your Home
This year, Carrera GO!!! is breaking away from the beaten path and official licenses to immerse us in the underground scene with the new “Tuning Zone.” Forget traditional F1 or Rally circuits; here, it’s all about style, neon lights, and pure speed.
This set stands out with its bold approach: it comes with two entirely fictional vehicles, designed specifically to evoke the aesthetics of modern street racing and tuning video games. It’s an invitation to create your own street racing team, without the constraints of real-world models.
The Speedsters: A Duo of “Hypercars”
The heart of this set lies in its two exclusive cars. Carrera has opted for a generic “Hypercar” design, blending the aggressive lines of Le Mans prototypes and futuristic supercars.
Their distinguishing feature? A dark “Anthracite” livery enhanced by fluorescent (Neon) accents that visually stand out on the black runway.

The track
Before we talk about the cars, a quick word about the 5.3-meter track. The track layout is a classic one, also found in other sets (20062492 and 20062477).
It features a loop and a flyover, as well as a narrowing that will allow you to bump into your opponent. Be careful, though, of the dangerous crossover and the resulting collisions. Now let’s take a look at the cars to see if there’s any risk involved.
Hypercar anthracite/neon green
Let’s start with the green car. On an anthracite gray base, green lines accentuate the car’s shape. The base is a hypercar entirely invented by CARRERA. The advantage is twofold: a sporty-looking car designed for racing, and no licensing means no royalties and a lower price (which is good for our wallets).
At the rear, the wing is imposing in size, but its design with lowered ends is clever: it’s much less exposed to impacts, greatly reducing the risk of breakage.
As for the look, the livery of this hypercar evokes real printed circuits powered by ‘green energy’. You almost get the feeling of driving a futuristic and eco-friendly race car! Once on the track, the verdict is clear: thanks to its low profile, the center of gravity is low, offering better road holding in the corners.

Hypercar anthracite/neon yellow
Let’s move on to the yellow version. At first glance, you might think, “It’s the twin of the green one, just a color change.” But don’t be fooled. While the body mold is exactly the same, the graphic design completely transforms the car.
The lines of this yellow livery are unique: they redefine the proportions and draw the eye to curves that the green version left in the shadows. The result? You truly feel like you’re looking at a brand new model.

The attention to detail goes even further with a subtle but noticeable difference: the wheels. They’re not the same as on the previous version! Even better, the yellow accents cleverly highlight the spokes, giving the wheels a more aggressive and distinctive look.

Lighting
I almost forgot the most important element, the one that gives these racing cars their name: Neon. At Carrera, this marks the return of illuminated ground effects (already seen on the Cars models).
The secret? Internal LEDs coupled with a translucent chassis that diffuse the light beneath the car. The effect is immediate: we’re plunged into a frenetic tuning race! As soon as the room dims, the magic happens: the cars leave behind luminous trails like shooting stars.

In terms of finish, two rooms, two different atmospheres. The green one is flawless: the green light blends seamlessly with the bodywork for a homogeneous and spectacular effect. However, the yellow one is a letdown… or rather, a disappointment with the white light. Carrera didn’t include any yellow LEDs. So we’re left with a clinical white light under a solar-powered body. This chromatic imbalance is truly unfortunate.
Okay, we’ll forgive Carrera this casting error this time, but don’t let them make that mistake again!
Another striking visual detail is the clever chassis design. It extends very high at the rear of the car, creating an ideal opening for light to escape.

As the supercar speeds away, the intense rear lights create the perfect illusion of afterburners. Forget the classic flames of a conventional car. This is science fiction: it looks like the engines of a spaceship ignite, propelling our Hypercar like a vehicle straight out of the Star Trek universe!
And let’s not deny ourselves the pleasure: with the holidays and long winter evenings approaching, these illuminated Hypercars remain the best way to amaze drivers of all ages.

View of the chassis. It’s always good to see what’s inside.

Conclusion

A sporty look, lights, and a track with various elements will make the race intense and full of surprises. A very attractive price. (The same track with a license is listed at a suggested retail price €35 higher (Disney·Pixar Cars – Neon Nights set, reference 62477)). So go for it!
