In the article presenting the CAT 770 1:64 radio controlled, I wrote that it would be good on a GO track. It was a remark but this sentence was running through my head for a while and I looked at this mining truck and told myself that it should not be complicated to do something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I started on FreeCAD to model a little thing. I take advantage of the high ground clearance of the CAD to be able to accommodate a support for the guide. A small plate that will be wedged by small pins at the level of the steering wheel arches.<\/p>\n\n\n

The guide itself will be made in a second piece to avoid supports during 3D printing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be glued to the plate in its housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After 3 tests to adjust the dimensions, here we are with a plate that fits correctly under the CAT 770.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A little double sided tape on the bracket and we can secure it under our truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C’est le moment de poser le camion minier sur la piste Carrera GO, d’allumer la t\u00e9l\u00e9commande et faire les premiers tours de roues. Un camion \u00ab\u00a0benne\u00a0\u00bb ne peut \u00eatre utiliser sans un contenue alors j’ai imprim\u00e9 des gros rochers.<\/p>\n\n\n

I put the gas on and the truck moves forward in the straight line, good news. In the bends, the truck slows down considerably with the friction of the guide in the slot, but it passes. After a few laps, the CAT sometimes stops in the bends, the small engine has difficulty. To limit the friction of the guide, I compensate using the remote control by turning with the direction of the remote control and it passes correctly. Our truck travels our track without any problem. The speed is not extraordinary but a big truck of this type does not go very fast on a scale of 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The big game is to load the dump as much as possible and avoid losing your load on the track in the bends.<\/p>\n\n\n

The next step will be to test this CAT on a GO Rally track with its curves and dirt chicanes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A real CAT converted into a road circuit vehicle would be a nice theme with a dirt track and accessories to carry without losing them during the race!<\/p>\n\n\n
