Narrow section Hybrid

The second major new feature for 2025: the “Narrow section” section joins the Carrera Hybrid universe.

The pack includes two rails: the Narrow sectionrail and a standard straight section. This choice is not arbitrary: to expand a track while maintaining its closed loop, it is mathematically necessary to add the rails in pairs to compensate for the resulting gap.

One minor drawback, however: we would have preferred two narrow sections (one offset to the right and the other to the left) rather than just one.

The Narrow section track element is marked with a letter code, and this time it’s the capital letter “i”. Its name, “Narrow Section Track”, is also displayed there.

When it comes to driving, precision is key. If you cross the white line, the penalty is immediate: your speed is limited to 49 km/h for 2 to 3 seconds. Whether you cross the single line on the left or one of the 13 lines on the right, every mistake will cost you precious seconds on the clock.

Only 50% of the track width is clear for this Narrow section, so during the race, approaching it in a pack will be very tricky; some will be forced to cut the line and lose time. The real question will be: should you use your front foot to navigate the Narrow section properly, or risk a penalty and being slowed down for a few seconds?

The driving assistance is quite effective and if your entry trajectory is correct, it will help you to avoid the lines on the right side very easily.

In terms of price, if I compare it to the 8-piece straightaway pack (Track Pack Speed ref 50052003) sold for €60, or €7.50 per straightaway, our Narrow section pack is 50 cents more expensive. This is reasonable considering the added fun the Narrow section brings to the track.

Conclusion

An essential module for tackling the challenge on the track while offering a welcome extension to your track. It’s a shame there isn’t a symmetrical version.
